Meet us at 9am to watch the cheese being made before tasting the Beaufort straight from the cellars!
Since 1965, the Vallée des Arves Dairy Cooperative has been transforming mountain milk into an exceptional Beaufort PDO. Supported by passionate farmers, it perpetuates traditional know-how while promoting Alpine terroir and sustainable agriculture. It is the smallest cooperative in the production area, producing 5,500 wheels of cheese a year!
- Alpage du Lac Laitelet Saint Sorlin d'Arves
At 5pm, discover a mountain pasture with breathtaking views of the Aiguilles d'Arves: a highly unusual peak with three distinct peaks. This family-run mountain pasture below the Col de la Croix de Fer is run by two brothers, Jean-Michel and Pascal, who are very involved in preserving the area. At the end of the meeting and discussions, enjoy a tasting of Beaufort and local produce!
Access by car: From St Sorlin d'Arves, reach the Col de la Croix de Fer. 7 km in around 15 minutes. We recommend parking at the Col de la Croix de Fer car park.
Hiking: The mountain pasture is 800m below the Col de la Croix de Fer (on the Arves valley side), about 15 minutes on foot.
