Created by a handful of farmers, the Coopérative Laitière de la Vallée des Arves was founded in October 1965 with the aim of organising the collection and sale of milk for the communes of Albiez le Vieux, Saint Jean d'Arves and Saint Sorlin d'Arves.
Across Beaufort, maintaining dynamic agriculture in our valley allows the upkeep of more than 2,000 hectares which will be used as a playground for winter sports (skiing, snowshoeing etc.) as well as for summer activities (hiking, discovering flora and fauna).
Farmers often have multiple activities. After the morning milking, you will probably find them teaching you the art of snow sports, taking part in operating the ski lifts or accompanying you to discover the secrets of the mountain pastures.
They will then return to their herd for the evening milking and treat you to the fruits of the high mountains: Beaufort cheese!
The dairy cooperative’s schedule:
• Free guided tours of the cooperative from 9am to 11.30am (except Sundays and public holidays)

From 05/07 to 31/08/2025 daily between 9 am and 12 pm and between 2.30 pm and 7 pm.
From 01/09 to 14/09/2025 daily between 9 am and 12 pm and between 3 pm and 6 pm.
From 15/09 to 12/12/2025 from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 12 pm. On bank holidays and weekends between 3 pm and 6 pm.
From 13/12/2025 to 29/03/2026 daily between 9 am and 12 pm and between 2.30 pm and 7 pm.
From 30/03 to 11/04/2026 daily between 9 am and 12 pm and between 3 pm and 6.30 pm.
