Join us for a day of mountain customs and traditions at Les Prés Plans, in Saint Sorlin d'Arves!
As in the past, traditional costume will be the order of the day! Lots of entertainment on site.
Programme 2024 :
All day long: Market, refreshments, mini-farm, ponies, face painting, old tractors, introduction to mountain bikes, game of skill with a mini-excavator, accordion, alphorn, discovery of the chapel, old photos and information on the heritage..
- 10am: Bread sale with the Soldanelles, meet Sorlinette
- 9.30am or 10am (to be confirmed): Mass at the Prés Plans chapel
- 10.30am: Tome cheese-making with the Vallée des Arves dairy cooperative (Fromagerie Coopérative laitière de la Vallée des Arves)
- 11am: Alphorn (explanation of the instrument and music)
- 11.30am: Dances by the Soldanelles
- 12pm: Meal (reservation required at the Tourist Office) or snacking to the sound of the accordion with Les Thuaz, signing session with Sorlinette
- 2pm: Tug-of-war
- 2.30pm: Soldanelles dances, ash whistle making with Zian des Alpes
- 3pm: Making butter with a churn
- 3.30pm: Herd dog demonstration
- 4.15pm: Soldanelles dances, undressing and results of the "dress weight" competition
- 5.15pm: Soap throwing
Programme subject to change/cancellation.
Followed by the joint village festival of Saint Sorlin d'Arves and Saint Jean d'Arves in the hamlet of La Chal in Saint Jean d'Arves with local associations. From 7pm: meal, refreshments, entertainment, mascot parade and fireworks!

How to get there :
- On foot from the Plan du Moulin car park, approximately 45 minutes.
Through the uninhabited, shady hamlet of Les Vachers, with its old school and 1784 cross.
- On foot from the Prés Plans car park, approx. 30 minutes.
- The little train runs from 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm for people with mobility difficulties and young children, from the village to Les Prés Plans.
